The Room is Dying Black Lines and Shards is a mixed-media project that documents my relationship with drawers. I began collecting abandoned drawers found on the sidewalks of New York City starting in 2011. Eventually I began regarding them as the very bodies of loved ones I have lost. I grew so attached to them that the only thing left to do was the destroy them in order to over-sentimentalize their loss. The project is made up of a collection images and objects, strung together by a series of book pages torn out from a fictional collection of eulogies.
